Covergirl enters a Galaxy Far Far Away

When Star Wars came into our galaxy in 1977, it launched a whole new kind of fan. Not only were men included but women got Princess Leia, a far from helpless princess.

For me Princess Leia symbolized everything all girls should be, not only pretty but took no shit from anyone around them. I spent years trying to get my hair into those infamous buns, but now I can at least have a make up look that would make even Padme proud.

A lot has changed since 1977 and women are now getting more products in the sci-fi and geek community.

Ahead of the new Star Wars film slated for a Dec release, Covergirl has teamed up to create a line of make up for geeky girls and women everywhere.

Though this isn’t the first time Covergirl has worked with fans and making lines for the female audience. Back in 2013 the make-up giant released a line ahead of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. 

While the “Capitol Collection” received mixed reviews by fans, since it went against the ideals the characters set, the new Star Wars line may have an opposite effect.

The line which will includes both the dark and light sides of the ever expanding universe, will feature lipsticks, nail polishes and mascaras. And will hit stores mid-Sept, but be available for a limited time Dec 18 to be exact.

The Force Awakens contains 19 pieces in total and Allure recently posted an unboxing video of the products found in the line. The line features 10 mascaras all with quotes from the films, 6 lipsticks in shimmery shades and 3 nail polishes.

While none of the make-up would be seen on the ever natural Leia, her mother Padme would have for sure worn the shimmery red to create her iconic lips.

Though for girls like me who enjoy not only make-up but many things deemed geeky this is a great marriage.

I’m looking forward to the shimmery red and plum lipstick in the collection, as well as a fun mascara with a slogan on it.

This is a whole new side to the idea of being a geek and a girl, and reminds us girls that we not only can love our light sabers but also wear kick ass lipsticks and nail polishes.

The new Covergirl line hits stores in the U.S. UK Asia and UAE in September, currently the U.S. line has a confirmed release date of Sept 4.

Disney Announces Expansions

In the ever changing theme park world, it’s about who is making the bigger and faster rides. Though in the heart of the theme park world it seems Disney is throwing the first shots in both it’s California and Florida parks.

The media giant who just revealed the inner workings of its new Shanghai park, has also released some news about its U.S. based parks.

With the ever growing popularity of Star Wars and Pixar films, Disney has decided to expand a total of 14 acres in order to provide new thrills for guests. According to Inside the Magic the new Star Wars expansions will include the famous Mos Eisley cantina, Millennium Falcon ride and a battle of the First Order and the Resistance.

While at Hollywood Studios in Orlando the 14 acres would more than likely be an expansions near the already existing ride between the Indiana Jones experience and where Muppetvision currently sits.

Bob Iger and Disney Imagineering have confirmed that the Disneyland project will not affect Mickey’s Toontown but instead expand into back stage areas located near Thunder Mountain.

During D23, Iger and Disney also announced an expansion of Pixar area in both parks. While at Hollywood Studios the expansion would take 11-acres to create it, the expansion would occur near the Midway Mania area. Orlando’s My News 13  reported that the expansion would bring a family friendly roller coaster based on the slinky the dog character and an expansion to Midway Mania.

While Disney didn’t announce what they plan to rename Hollywood Studios, after Iger let it slip earlier this year that there would be a name change. They have confirmed the expansions to both parks and even more attractions to come in the following years.

The Star Wars expansions are looking to be completed by 2017 in both parks, more information is expected to be released in the coming year.

New Fall Out Boy?

After an extensive year of shows, new music and being featured in a Disney film. Chicago based Fall Out Boy is already working on new material, as well as their new album due out sometime in early 2015 according to the band’s bassist Pete Wentz.

While they haven’t released much more than a few hints about the track via their social media, fans are already speculating what it can be. The band known for their secrecy in the last year, especially since they released a single, announced an album and tour all within a few months of each other. Fans are blowing up social media about what the band has planned for Monday, the Fall Out Boy hashtag on twitter has speculation on what it could be.

The single according to the band via twitter and instagram is due to be out Monday November 24 at 7:30 GMT. The song will be on BBC radio 1 during the Zane Lowe show, they did mention the song will be a follow up to “Centuries” which premiered earlier this year. There is speculation the band will be following the same route they did with “Save Rock n Roll,” which they released all 12 tracks with music videos that ended up being a small film.

Till Monday most fans won’t know, but knowing Fall Out Boy they’ll be dropping small hints through the weekend for fans. “Centuries” and “Save Rock n Roll” is available on iTunes. And the band’s newest song “Immortals” can be heard in the Disney film “Big Hero 6” out now nationwide.
